Environment, Energy & Natural Resources
Hi Friends of the Forest River Watershed. If you have a minute, here is an easy action that might help us get
our concerns on the radar at the state level.
I concluded a few months ago that our options in Salem are running thin. To that end,
State Rep John Keenan said he would contact Rep. Frank Smizik, who is the House Chair of the
Committee on Environment, Energy & Natural Resources. It would be
good to make sure we're on their radar. Be sure to let John Keenan
know we appreciate his thoroughness on this and encourage him to push
for a wider review, moratorium or whatever.[See
my July '06 letter to John.] The great thing about bringing it to this level is that now ANYONE IN THE STATE can contact
these folks--please pass the word! If you can get a few people to
contact him and others (in the Senate as well) I'll paste his contact

We can use the postcards we already have--they're still relevant and
I have plenty. I am making up packages. Your own text and concerns are
even better, but any correspondence is helpful to drive the point
home that we need a multi-jurisdictional, multi-site review and or
moratorium that takes into account ALL recent and proposed projects:
40B housing, dorms, parking lot, baseball field, tennis courts,
residential developments, YMCA...as well as the concerns we already
have, like accident hotspots at Loring & Monroe, Raymond&Lafayette,
Fairview Rd & Lafayette, etc.
